When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was He answered “Love the Lord your God with all you heart, your soul and your might. Â The second is like unto it love your neighbor as yourself.” Â We all encounter opportunities everyday to show love to our neighbors. Â We are at times presented with circumstances when the need of our neighbors is so great, that the love of Christ compels us to be especially diligent in ministering to those in need. Â We find ourselves at one of those crossroads. Â The storms that went through Alabama on April 27 were historic in terms of lost lives and properties. Â Thousands of people around us are suffering and will to continue to struggle for many days ahead.
We are reaching out in tangible ways to those around us. Â We are collecting items for donations, we are collecting monetary contributions and we are soliciting volunteers to work in relief efforts. Â As people who have been blessed and who serve a risen Savior, it is what we are called to do. Â We all will also continue to pray for those around us who are hurting.
I know the Lakeside family will respond generously. Â Generosity combined with a love for God and His people are part of what is special about this body of believers.
