We are pleased to announce the re-release of our Lakeside Life for Android app. The app was originally released in 2009. Due to changes in the Android operating system and changes on our website, the app was pulled from the app store last August 2011. We felt it best to take time to redevelop the app following the most recent Android guidelines so it would function similar to other Android apps. Following this idea, we changes from a tab based structure to a menu button structure for navigation between views. We redesigned the news and sermons views to be more touch and read friendly. The sermons no longer play on an internal player but link out to any media player installed on your device. This ensures you get the best playback experience possible. The “You” view now includes Sunday school classes, discipleship classes, service times, the daily Bible reading plan, and links to the Lakeside blogs. We plan to continue development on the app over the next few months and welcome your feedback. You can leave a comment here or send us an email through our contact page.

Please note: this app is currently in beta. There are a few known issues which are being resolved. The full release is expected in about 5 to 6 weeks.

The latest iPhone app update is now available. Now you can access Blogs from within the app. Improvements also include faster news and sermon load times, better Sunday school class organization and better notification of options that require exiting the app. Your input and suggestions are always welcome.

Fall means change. Several of Lakeside’s ministries will have program changes in the fall. New programs, new times, more fellowship, and more worship. We will be updating our site to reflect these changes in the next few weeks. We invite you to check out our changes online and in person!

The media platform (aka Lakeside.Media) has been updated to include additional information on the media viewer page. We hope this will add some benefit to your viewing experience. Also, we discovered an error on our iTunes feeds (both audio and video) which caused the podcast site to not update in a timely manor. The error has now been corrected and we apologize for the inconvenience.

The technology blog started in November 2010 for a test of the Lakeside blogging platform. The blog runs WordPress 3. We have developed several custom widgets which tie certain part of the blog back to our main site. This is extremely useful, since news can be posted directly from a blog into our news syndication. Blogs allow for a less rigid format, allowing ministries to post message and receive comments. Blogs are accessible for editing on the web and on many mobile devices. This allows us to post needs, prayers, and praises directly from the mission field. Over 2011-2012 we will continue to expand the blog sections of our site. If you have a ministry at Lakeside that could benefit from a blog, please let someone in the web department know. Set is simple and quick.
